Rose Marie Sobota (age 86)
neé Hyso
April 8, 2025
Loving wife of Leonard, mother of Joseph, and the daughter of the late Walter J. and Sophie Hyso. Rose Marie is also survived by several cousins in the USA and Poland, and nieces and nephews. A second-generation Polish American and practicing Roman Catholic, she proudly lived and shared her Polish heritage and exemplified the Spirit of the Lord in her life. As a homemaker, she was known for her cooking and maintaining a clean house. She enjoyed traveling, attending Polish parish festivals, and working on crossword puzzles.
Rose Marie was a lifetime parishioner of the former St. Ladislaus Parish in Hamtramck and a lifetime member of the Polish Falcons of America. During her years at St. Ladislaus, she was a member of the Sodality of Our Lady, the Moms Dads Teachers Association, the Rainbow Seniors, the Altar Society, and the Rosary Society. She volunteered to work at the annual parish Mardi Gras and parish-sponsored booths at the Hamtramck Festival. In her later years, she volunteered in the office for the parish’s religious education program and helped count the weekly parish collection. As a member of the Polish Falcons of America, she participated in drill classes as a youth member and served in various offices of Nest 86 as an adult and attended several District and National conventions; for her lifetime of participation and service, she was awarded the Silver Legion of Honor Cross in 2020.
