Donna Kilbride (age 92)

Wife of the late Thomas Sr (2009) for 59 years and loving mother of Lillian (late Garry) Lee, the late Thomas Jr. ( Janet) , Susan ( late Richard) Hall, the late Michael (late Barbara), Mary (James) Kilbride-Cook, the late Mark, Patricia (late Ronald), and Michelle (Kevin) Kaptur.  Donna was the Grandmother of Justin, Kristen, Tommy, Jessica, Brian, Ron, Brandon, Jacki, Stephanie, Ryan, Brittany, Zack, Lauren, Vanity, Claire, and Grace and Great Grandmother of Ellie, Brynn, Sophie, RJ, Jake, Willow, Silas, and Roman, .

Donna met the love of her life while working as a candy counter girl at The Globe, a local movie theater. Her then-boss, and eventual husband, was always scolding her for giving away the candy to those kids who couldn’t afford it, and through that, he saw her generosity of spirit and kindness. That summed up Donna’s life, devoted and giving to others.

She and Thomas married in 1950 when she was only 17 years old and went on to have eight children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

While Thomas worked many hours to support his family, Donna took care of most everything around the house and made a lot out of very little. She was always doing something like painting walls, rewiring lamps, sewing the kid’s clothes or hosting neighborhood parties for the kids and adults alike. In her little free time, she enjoyed reading and gardening.

As she aged, she battled many ailments but took comfort in her deep Catholic faith. She prayed daily, had a devotion to Mary, and loved receiving the Eucharist as often as possible. She was very competitive and enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee with family and friends and often took an extra roll if she didn’t think anyone was watching. Hallmark Moves and scratch-off tickets were other favorite pastimes she enjoyed.

She will be missed by her family, friends, and care-givers, who have become like family in recent years, and we await the day when we are all re-united.

In lieu of flowers please make donations in Donna’s name to St Jude Children’s Hospital or the Capuchin’s .
