Paul Hammontree (age 54)
October 27, 2023
Paul had a beautiful mind, one most people outside of his family never understood. The world was unkind to Paul but Paul was not his illness. He was so much more than that. Paul proved it in the heart of Detroit where he grew up and lived. Paul was a stranger to many but Paul never net a stranger.
Paul had a huge heart for hurting people, he could spot an outcast, see their needs, and meet them even if it meant he was giving away his only coat, out of his lack he gave, he gave away his clothes, his shoes, & his CD Players. If Paul had food his neighbor had food. Paul was known in the streets as Pauley Wally. Most People don’t know that Paul loved dancing when he was young. He could break-dance, do the robot, and belly dance, his talent didn’t stop there. Paul loved to Draw, and could sing, as he grew older his passion for music never faded he had a beautiful voice.
Paul was too big for this world but his heart fit. Paul was not his illness, like most with long-term illness we usually hear the phrase he/she lost the battle. Paul didn’t lose the battle he fought and that fight led Paul into the everlasting arms of the Lord. Paul knew the bible, he could quote the bible, and equally important he knew God. Paul believed Jesus Christ died for him, accepted him as his personal Lord and Savior, so yes . . . He fought, he fought the good fight of faith contending in a world that did not understand him. Paul loved you, he never met a stranger.
Proceeded in death by his late father Robert “Bobby Jean” Hammontree of Lochgelly WV. Paul was his eldest son. Those left to cherish his memory, mother Mary Ann Kocol, and husband Norm, his twin sister Paula with whom he has an everlasting bond, along with his sisters, Loretta Gubin, Roxanne Yusif and brothers Robert, Claude, Adam, and Anthony Hammontree. As well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and many nieces & Nephews.
Paul’s love & Friendship will forever be missed in our homes and hearts until we are reunited with him.
