March 5, 2023

Kenneth Sierzan, Dad, Grandpa, Coach, passed away  at the age of 80. He was in home hospice, surrounded by his family. He died of stage 4 bladder cancer.

Kenny was born January 23, 1943, in Detroit, MI. The son of late Adolph and Virginia Sierzan. He was the dear husband of Catherine (nee Kudla), loving father to Leann (Joseph) Piechocki, Pamela Sierzan, Michelle (Jim) Livingston, and Gregory (Michelle) Sierzan. Adored Grandpa to Samantha Ryner, Joseph, Carrie Ann, Julie Ann, and Breann Piechocki and Maxwell Livingston.  Grandpa will always be remembered for his tractor rides.  Dear brother to Marlene (Dennis) Makowski.

Before they were even dating, Kenny drove down the street, saw Catherine (Kudla) walking down the street and said, “one day I’m going to marry that girl.” On April 14, 1967 he did just that! Last April Ken and Catherine celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Kenny truly loved his family! But his second love was basketball! He played in high school in Hamtramck and was named All-city. Kenny played ball in the parks and alleys.  Kenny started coaching in 1967 at St. Veronica’s. He has coached at many schools for 53 years. Basketball was definitely in his heart and in his blood. Kenny retired from General Motors (Chevy Gear and Axel), on Holbrook, in Detroit after 33 years of employment.

There will be a private, family memorial to respect Ken’s wishes.
