John Justewicz (age 73)
May 9, 2021
Loving husband of Sherry, father of John Jr. (Sara) and step father of Karrie Ann (J.D.) DeLaRosa, Dawn (Pete) Francis, and Justin (Cecelia) Hamel. Grandfather of John Bradley, Kyle, Isabella, Georgie, Gavin, and Robert. Dear brother of Robert (Diane) and uncle to Bobby. John had a passion for friends and family, his career at Wayne County as a Deputy Sheriff, and of course for the City of Hamtramck. His political passion was always evident and rarely would give anyone a break if he thought differently. Unfortunately, John lost his battle with esophageal cancer after 7 months. But due to his sickness he moved in with his son John Jr and was able to welcome his grandson John Bradley into the world and give him baths and go on walks with him. He would always spend a good part of his day talking on the phone checking on family and friends.

Justin,
Please accept my Deepest Sympathy at the passing away of your Father. I also enjoyed talking with him when I would see him at your Grandmother’s house when I would bring her Holy Communion on the First Friday’s of the month… May Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him, and may he Rest in Peace. Amen. Fr. Darrell
Hamtramck will never be the same without “Papa John”! I will miss my friend and our fun debates on many subjects.
Johnny
I couldn’t be more grateful for the life of your father. For without him we would not have you. He raised an outstanding young man. He instilled in you his gratefulness, respect, honor & faithfulness. He was an outstanding man that I am going to miss dearly. Keep the traditions going for your father. R.I.P. John
