At a young age she was very\u00a0outgoing,\u00a0having many friends, and was\u00a0known for her generosity\u00a0and willingness to offer aid. She pursued this passion for helping others,\u00a0having studied to become\u00a0a nurse, a field she would\u00a0enter and\u00a0stay in for most of her\u00a0adult\u00a0life\u2014a\u00a0testament to the fountain of generosity that flowed from her heart.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a01968,\u00a0Kathy\u00a0emigrated to America and one year later met her husband George, in Stamford, CT,\u00a0where they married shortly thereafter.\u00a0The couple\u00a0recently celebrated 52 years of marriage, receiving a letter from the President of the United States commemorating their\u00a0golden\u00a0anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>In 1970, Kathy settled in Hamtramck with George, and soon after,\u00a0their sons Gregory and Thomas\u00a0were born.\u00a0As a mother,\u00a0she honed her baking and cooking skills, and embarked upon a lifetime of feeding everyone\u00a0she loved\u00a0with her finest\u00a0recipes. Her life-long\u00a0interest in\u00a0gardening also blossomed at that time and the backyard of\u00a0her family&#8217;s\u00a0two-story inner-city brownstone resembled springtime in Polish Galicia.<\/p>\n<p>During the summer in Michigan,\u00a0she was a cook at Camp\u00a0Bia\u0142owie\u017ca, and as\u00a0a volunteer\u00a0she fed\u00a0hundreds of Polish Scouts. During the\u00a0Soviet occupation, she\u00a0would send\u00a0care packages to help loved ones in Poland. In 1986, Kathy proudly became a US\u00a0citizen.<\/p>\n<p>After the family moved to Canton, MI, Kathy went back to night school and earned her degree in Occupational Therapy (OT), returning to the nursing field, a career she loved and thrived in until her retirement.\u00a0At\u00a0the same time, she was still a doting mother and housewife\u00a0who\u00a0tirelessly chauffeured\u00a0her sons to all their activities, encouraging and supporting them to explore their interests and broaden their horizons.<\/p>\n<p>As an OT, she received hundreds of thank you cards over the years from her patients and\u00a0their\u00a0families. She cared about her\u00a0&#8220;girls&#8221;\u00a0in the office,\u00a0having taken\u00a0them under her experienced wings, and truly missed them when she retired,\u00a0as they did her.<\/p>\n<p>In her retirement, she continued to enjoy her passions of gardening and ensuring everyone who entered her home was well fed, cared for, and loved. Her final days and hours were spent in a celebration of her amazing life. In the end, she had the last laugh at PSP, and\u00a0with her\u00a0head held high, she chose to go exactly on her own terms by refusing treatment after a PSP-related fall. Her courage and strength in the face of such personal misfortune is an inspiration to us all. Her family is so very proud of her.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, she was the most devoted wife and mother who had all the time and love for her family and friends.\u00a0She\u00a0wanted everyone to have fun and be happy, to raise a glass, to eat another plate, and to love each other just a little more. Kathy\u2019s undying love and generosity will be missed by all those lives she touched.<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her husband George, her cherished sons Gregory and Thomas,\u00a0precious\u00a0grandson Tyler, brother\u00a0Stanislaw Rysz and\u00a0sister-in-law, Maria,\u00a0nephews Bogdan Wenta, Ronnie Rysz, Mark Rysz, Daniel Rysz, and\u00a0niece,\u00a0Magda Rysz,\u00a0numerous cousins,\u00a0and\u00a0great-nieces and great-nephews around the world.\u00a0Predeceased\u00a0by her parents Aleksandra and Jan Rysz, sister\u00a0W\u0142adys\u0142awa\u00a0Wenta,\u00a0and nephew Janusz\u00a0Wenta.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitation<\/strong><br \/>\nTuesday January 4, 2022 from 9:30- 10:15 AM<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jurkiewicz
